Cabernet Sauvignon from Dunnigan Hills, Yolo County, California
The 2020 Matchbook Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from grapes grown on the red gravel soils in the winery's Dunnigan Hills vineyard. The wine opens with classic Cabernet aromas of chocolate, tobacco, violets and leather. Plush flavors of blackberry, black cherry and mocha are backed with sweet oak and vanilla. The juicy texture is mouth filling and mingles with the fine, dusty tannins in the finish.
77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot, 8% Malbec, 2% Petite Sirah
White wine made from the Colombard grape from Southwest France
The Colombard grape is a cousin of the Chenin Blanc grape and so it has similar characteristics being rich and full of flavor on the palate with a lingering finish. However, the aromas of fresh flowers and blackcurrant leaf more resemble Sauvignon Blanc. Ideal with all spicy dishes like as well as all seafood, chicken and cream based pastas. Also a great aperitif.
High-end Chardonnay from Mendoza, Argentina
At almost 5,000 feet elevation in the Andean foothills, the Adrianna vineyard's calcareous soils and cool climate are the promised land of Chardonnay. The fruit from the Adrianna vineyard has a purity of flavors and a minerality that is particular to this vineyard and can not be found anywhere else in Mendoza. The nearby, gravel-covered Domingo Vineyard makes up 20% of the blend.
Critical Acclaim - James Suckling 94 points
This is a serious white with dried apple, pineapple and white peach to the stone and honeysuckle character. Full-bodied, bright and fruity with a fascinating undertone of spice and cream.
